Social Networking Sites
In today’s world, social
networking is a big part of the everyday life. However, each social media site
has its own advantages. Twitter limits posts to 140 characters so every word
counts! Twitter posts often are combined with a link to the full
article/website. I see it as a “previous” to the real thing. Twitter is also
good for short statement such as political opinions, what one is doing/eating
and a simple thought that one wants to share. In oppose to Twitter where every
word counts, Instagram focuses on photos. Users post photos, add location and
hashtags. Instagram is a great tool for business, for example a fashion business
could post photos of their new collection, it is free advertisement for the companies.
Users could also send a that post to another user. If I see a shirt my sister
would like I could send the post to her so it’s a tool for communication as
well. Which leads me to WhatsApp, a Wi-Fi base messaging system that makes communication
easier with people all over the world. In WhatsApp, there are a few features
that are very useful such as; group chats, send photos with no limitation of
quantity, sharing contacts and sharing location. I’ve been living in the United
States for almost eight years while my family is in Israel and WhatsApp makes
it easy to communicate and stay in touch with them on an everyday base. I am
part of a few group chats with my family and friends and thanks to that I feel
closer to them. Last but not the least – Facebook. Facebook is the biggest
social networking site with approximately 1.5 billion monthly active users. The
way I see Facebook it combines all of these three social networking sites. When
one logs into Facebook, the question “What is on your mind, name?”, even though
Facebook does not limit characters these posts are similar to Twitter. Moving
on to Instagram, Facebook has the option to upload photos, uses hashtags and
one can even link both accounts together. So that whenever a photo is posted on
Instagram it is synched to Facebook automatically. Moreover, Facebook has the
option to upload albums and reminds one of memories through uploaded photos. Finally,
Facebook also has a great messaging system. Like in WhatsApp, one could create
group chats and easily communicate with people all over the world. Facebook
Messenger has a separated app with great features such as; secret
conversations, sending money to a friend, transfer files and more.

I also love WhatsApp, it is a great way to stay in touch with my family in England, Jamaica, Canada, and Spain. Our family group " Family stay in touch" allows us to communicate as a group and share all the important family events like birthdays, father's day and new addition to our family.
ReplyDeleteEvery social networking sites has their own advantages and many different uses. I didn't know that Facebook can be use to sending money to a friend. So I think there are more ways of using all these websites waiting us to discover.
